05.30 .. My alarm goes off ..
06.32 .. On the road for RAF Fairford .. in the rain ..
07.08 .. I’m inside the airfield then wait for the two Simon’s to
arrive ..
07.50 .. Finally got to our trailer .. gosh the ruddy jobs worth’s
here, mixed with the criminal incompetence of the organisers to make
sure people get the passes they need.
09.30 .. I’m not happy with the wireless headphone kit .. so start to
take mixer and comms crate apart. I soon find the issue, I’ve been fed
bull shit in recent months about this “issue”.
10.20 .. Wiring error corrected .. it’s all back together and ready to
roll !!!
11.03.02 .. We are on air .. I’m ready for anything .. fully dressed in
my sailing oilies and wellies !! Sadly with the current weather
conditions, we don’t have an audiance nor are there any planes flying
..
Boss Geoff with wife and nephews in tow come to find us .. they are
pretty wet ..
13.15 .. The sun finally starts to try and break through .. off with
the jackets ..
14.00 .. We are off air ..

It’s the Saturday morning weigh in .. 14st 8lb ...
08.50 .. Karen returns with the tea .. Karen is unwell, so we won’t be
going to IKEA at Wembley today looking at kitchens .. ho hum .. plan B
then ..
09.45 .. Up and at it ..
11.30 .. I head for the bathroom ..
12.40 .. I’m finally dressed and ready for the day ..
13.05 .. A pre lunch trip to Longacres to get some goodies .. some
rolls, a “Lardy Cake” for Claire on Monday, some Eccles cakes ( comfort
food for Karen ), a jar of Bracknell honey and
Shopping trip to M&S, 4 new bra’s and a pack of purple trimmed /
spotted knickers .. and to Home base to get some clothes hangers .. not
any clothes hangers, but some more of the Russell stacking hangers I
bought a couple of months ago .. I buy 40, intending to share these
with Karen ..
19.45 .. I finally order the Chinese ..
Back to the bedroom and more sorting of clothes ..
23.55 .. I finally head for bed ..

18.45 .. Dinner is served .. Karen’s done a salad on plates to go with
the fillet steak and “Chorisso style” sausages .. the steaks are sadly
more medium than rare .. a lesson learnt .. but they are lovely to eat
.. washed down with Pimms ..
Dessert is a bowl of strawberries, I anoint mine with a drizzle of neat
Pimms .. then wash the whole lot down with more Pimms .. lovely .. now
I’m relaxed ..
The evening is spent watching tv and snuggling a little with Karen ..

10.10 .. We join the back of a stationary queue between J10 & J11
.. this isn’t looking good, our TomTom’s delay builds steadily after
I’ve turned the engine off .. from 10 minutes to a peak of 88 minutes
.. Karen calls ahead to the home to warn them we are likely to be late
for the 13.00 meeting ..
10.50 .. ish .. We scrabble off the M1 at J11 and let the TomTom take
us to J12 across country .. or through the suburbs of Luton anyway. As
we cross the motorway about 2 miles later it’s flowing rapidly .. seems
I jumped too soon .. DOH.
12.02 .. A quick nip into Donnington services .. comfort break and grab
some food for later ..
12.18 .. We drive away .. Karen’s feeding me savoury bites as I drive ..
12.45 .. We arrive at Claire’s home .. the continuing care nurse and
her social serivices side kick are yet to arrive .. we go in to see
Claire, despite being told she’s really happy when we first arrived,
she doesn’t seem so when we see her.
13.15 .. We give into our hunger and eat our sandwiches .. which we
share with Claire even though she’s had her lunch ..
13.50 .. ish .. the meeting starts ..
16.40 .. ish .. Karen disappears to follow Claire back to her room ..
16.55 .. ish .. the meeting ends .. I leave my handbag with the
recorder going and head off to join Karen and Claire next door .. see
what’s said behind my back later.
17.35 .. We leave Claire’s home ..
18.58 .. We pull off of the motorway to get some comfort food .. KFC ..
a couple of “Boneless Banquet” boxes sort of sort us out ..

Graham decides to try “Short wave radiation” treatment .. 20 mins on
high power, leaves my shoulder feeling warm ..
08.35 .. I’m on the road to work .. the M3 .. or should that be called
the slow road ..
09.32 .. I’m in the office ..
Phil helps me return the kit we used yesterday for the “town hall”
meeting .. back to the warehouse.
I set to modifying the OB Dalet PC crate .. well lets say finishing it
off properly .. for some reason the rack mounted PC in the flight case
is only held in with 2 bolts .. and those are on 20mm stand off pillars
.. so the whole thing can flex around, jamming the rack mount draw
below it.
Two more pillars fitted, the computer is now rigidly mounted .. and the
draw below used to store microphones and belt packs now opens freely !!
12.49 .. I wash my hands .. lunch .. PAB.
13.02 .. I find a comfy spot with my hot water bottle in “the little
meeting room” in the main building ..
13.30 .. I head back to the office .. shoulder glowing ..
14.00 .. A meeting for Seb, Mark and I to discuss outstanding studio
issues !!
17.05 .. I discover that the simple 10 minute job to replace a
headphone socket is an instant nightmare .. thanks to how the current
socket is fitted, no not fitted, bodged in.
17.55 .. I’m back in the office, after 2 trips to Studio 2 to get all
my bits out of there.
18.05 .. I’m heading for home ..
19.07 .. I’m home ..
19.15 .. Dinner is served .. a ham and spicy chicken wing salad ..
followed my Mocha Chocolate tart and ice cream ..

05.25 .. ish .. I’m woken by a text message coming in, sent
automatically by our Catterick transmitter, the powers gone off ..
beyond my control .. something to sort later.
06.10 .. Did the alarm go off .. I don’t know ..
06.55 .. I wake with a start .. groan ..

08.21 .. Oop’s .. I’m on the road .. TomTom says no delays .. even on
the A30 at Egham which I find surprising given recent mornings, school
holidays or not .. yep TomTom is wrong .. 6 minute queue .. DOH !!!
09.16 .. I’m in the office ..
12.55 .. I stop for lunch .. a cup of chicken soup out of the machine,
then my fruit.
17.39 .. I’m on the road for home .. after 2 miles the TomTom announces
a 23 minute delay and faster route .. it’s takes me off through Fulmer,
Slough and Datchet up to the A30 at Englefield Green.
I loose faith at this point, “live” is saying 3 minute delay when I
turn right .. so I use my IQ route rather than TomTom’s known route
with delay and go straight across the A30 down to Wentworth .. after
recalculating it takes 3 minutes off my estimated ETA .. so what was
“IQ” and “Live” about TomTom’s route .. hmmmm.

A hunt for some suitcases .. Karen spots some purple ones with white
polka dots .. “Samsonite Lollydot cases” .. do them in pink too ..

Mila pops up for a chat on Facebook .. a Dr Suporn patient who used to
read my diary, and sadly has an issue now with granulation, I can’t
guide her, she needs to consult with Sophie at the clinic to see what’s
best to do ..

06.10 .. The alarm goes off .. time for a little snuggle ..

08.14 .. I’m on the road .. the TomTom wants me to go M3 way .. so I do

08.52 .. I’m in the office ..
16.41 .. I’m on the road for home .. except that the M25 already has a
16 mile queue, says the radio .. the TomTom soon cottons on and takes
me on a quicker route .. across country to Slough and through Datchet.
17.45 .. As I approach our cul-de-sac I spot a Rainbow Coachworks low
loader, empty .. in the road behind us .. I assume the drivers unloaded
there and driven on round .. so I finish my journey .. no sign of Red
anywhere ?!? .. I drive back to the other road to see Red being backed
out of a driveway.
DOH .. the driver see’s me waving and follows me round .. he’d been at
the right house number .. just another street .. I
17.54 .. I’m in doors.
19.04 .. Dinner is served .. Waitrose finest sausages with Tesco’s
Finest horseradish mash potato .. with Branston baked beans .. lovely.
Dessert is a bowl of freshly chopped up pineapple.

It’s the Saturday morning weigh in .. 14st 6 3/4lb ...
10.18 .. We’ve arrived at Enterprise Car hire’s place in Camberley to
return the loan car .. I have to wait for ever it seems, just one girl
on duty ..
10.32 .. Finally we are away .. heading for IKEA in Wembley .. the
traffic isn’t good and we find a couple of queues on the way ..
11.18 .. We are in the car park at IKEA .. it’s clearly a popular place
to be today .. We go up to the sales floor to start looking .. who
designed this layout .. it’s all mixed up .. Kitchen stuff mixed with
everything else, demonstration kitchens dotted here and there.
We go do the kitchen hunt .. IKEA do some nice things .. a few items
appear to be pretty well made, and some of their kitchen stuff is quite
clever .. but nothing really appeals to Karen.

14.10 .. We head for Gerrards Cross ..
16.10 .. We are in my mums ..
16.45 .. ish .. We have had enough, we head for home.

we both go and soak up some fresh air ..

with settee cushions then collect all the little cushions up and stack
them down the head end ..
Eventually Karen gives in and slides in with me .. time for some
serious cuddling / snuggling up.
18.25 .. ish .. I’ve been cuddling Karen for a while as she’d been
purring in my ear, when she wakes with on loud snore .. love is ..

for the first time .. she’s chatting with Geoff.
12.50 .. ish .. I head off to “The Canteen” with Melanie, Jon &
Dave, they two bosses occupy a bench under a tree while Melanie and I
go in to get some food. Yes I’ve abandoned my PAB today for some
comfort food .. chicken & mushroom pie with chips and baked beans
..
Post lunch I take Melanie over to see another of our working places ..
workshop number two in the warehouse .. we are not there long before
Hunter turns up to take her off to see the TV side of the business
..
A little later Melanie is returned to me and I show her my task list at
Jon’s suggestion ..
Finished with me .. I take Melanie off to Geoff’s office so he can have
the final say before he see’s her off.
17.15 .. I’m chatting to Jon in his office when he notices it’s raining
outside .. lovely.
17.35 .. As I leave the office in the rain .. I grab one of the
communal umbrella’s from outside the projects office door to shelter
under to the car .. this is the draw back of working in such a nice
setting.
17.38 .. I’m in the car heading for home .. the traffic is kind today ..
18.32 .. Post fuel stop in Violet, I’m home .. Karen has put the BBQ on
to heat up already ..
The Rainbow body shop in Farnborough have not turned up as they
promised they would earlier .. not very good service then.
19.15 .. Dinner is served .. lamb kofta kebabs, sausages and a salad ..
dessert is some bio yoghurt, oat granola and local honey .. lovely ..

08.00 .. I head for the physio, via my doctors surgery in Lightwater to
get my blood test results from a couple of weeks ago ..
Yes, yes, yes .. my blood oestrogen level has gone from about 220 to
396 mpol/L .. no wonder I feel so much better .. just 4 short of what I
consider to be my target range .. 400 - 550. I won’t argue about the 4
under, as I do feel soo good, but I have to wonder how I’d feel at 550
!!!
The traffic to Frimley from Lightwater is terrible, making me a little
late ..
08.33 .. I sign in to the Physio’s dept ..
08.37 .. Graham calls me in for more SRT .. 20 mins on full power. He
offers me a magazine to read .. an Amateur Photographer magazine could
be good .. he hands me the mag and walks off .. then I see it’s October
2004 !!!! Well it makes for some interesting reading .. so much
excitement about the new generation of 5mp digital camera’s ..
LOL.
09.02 .. BING .. I’m cooked .. my shoulder does feel quite warm ..
Graham takes me to another place to book another appointment for 2
weeks time, the day before we fly off to Canada ..
09.12 .. I head for work in Red .. the traffic isn’t kind to me ..

need to do my hair today .. so be it .. this is going to make me late

08.22 .. I head for work in Violet, so Red can get her new trim ..

Karen calls .. the idiot sent without tools has damaged another part of
Red’s door trim as he removed the old trim .. so the car will now have
to go back for that to be repaired .. the other bit needs to be heated
to get it off

15.35 .. ish .. I finally head for Sandhurst ..
The TomTom announces a 53 minute delay on my predicted route .. do I
want to use a faster route .. stupid question. It takes me on a
peculiar route .. but it saves me half an hour via back roads through
Slough, M4 to Bracknell and across country to Sandhurst ..
16.54 .. I arrive at Sandhurst ..
17.25 .. I finally head for home, but do a quick stop at Homebase to
pick up another 40 of there “stacking” hangers ..
17.55 .. I’m surprised to see the hairdressers open .. Ashleigh tells
me she’s going on holiday next Thursday, so she’s moved her late night
to Wednesday .. and can do me at 17.30 if I can make it .. I’ll have to
ask my bosses for an early get away ..
18.05 .. I’m home ..
I start the online registration of my new Amex card .. a member since
“83" it says .. they’ve gone back to the old style cards for my latest
issue .. doing mine isn’t a problem. However, the problem arrises when
I try and do Karen’s. She’s not had one for a few years, but Amex have
surprised us by sending her one again .. given our forthcoming trip to
Canada in under 2 weeks, I decide it’s a good idea for her to have it
again.
Sadly it all goes wrong, I phone the customer care team who as always
show the height of respect to me .. but it seems the girl at the other
end, and others on her team can’t sort it .. she suggests calling back
in 24 hours and sorting it once their IT people have looked at it. So
be it.
19.25 .. I order our food .. it’s going to be 20 minutes .. so Karen
and I go into the garden and fold the little tent up ..
Friday night, on a "Claire weekend" = Chinese take away night ..
today's fortune cookies .. Karen chose for me :YOU AND YOUR WIFE WILL
BE HAPPY IN YOUR LIFE TOGETHER" ( true, she must be !! ) .. I chose for
myself :"YOU WILL DISCOVER GOOD IN WHAT YOU AT FIRST THOUGHT WAS EVIL"
( thinking about that one) .. the mind boggles really especially if you
knew what her ones said !!

Memory Joggers ...
Not a good nights sleep .. partly shoulder partly worrying about Claire
coming home.
07.23 .. I get up, quick pit stop in the bathroom then go and make the
tea. While I’m there I do the Saturday morning weigh in .. 14st 8 3/4
lb .. doh .. I blame all those Krispy Kreme doughnuts that Mark E
bought in yesterday when the office was empty !!.
09.05 .. I nip out to the chemist in Lightwater to get some more
Benylin for Karen ..
09.41 .. We are on the road to get Claire ..
09.54 .. A quick pit stop for fuel at Egham, a bloke in a van is
causing grief with a couple of slightly inconsiderate old biddies with
their Micra .. ho hum.
10.04 .. We join the M25 .. it’s really quiet, not surprising as it’s
still closed 5 junctions behind us from yesterdays major accident ..
apparently they have to remove an overhead gantry that’s damaged before
it can reopen .. hmmmm.
10.28 .. We join the M1, well I must say, it’s no busier than weekends
when kids are at school, so where is all the “holiday” traffic ..
11.09 .. We arrive at Northampton services .. as we draw up Claire
doesn’t seem to happy to see us. However once we open her door on the
homes car she smiles and leaps straight out and gives me a hug .. phew.
She goes and hugs Karen before getting into Sparkle and doing her
seatbelt up.
Possibly she’d been confused by a Red Jazz parked a couple of bays from
the homes car with nothing in between, as we’d normally park as pull
up.
11.11 .. We are heading for home .. Claire is a little quiet .. very
quiet .. hope this isn’t cause she’s been drugged ..

might help her find somewhere temporary when she starts work with my
company ..
12.15 .. Stuck on the M25 in a queue .. Claire’s almost begging for the
loo .. ETA 13.10 .. this isn’t good.
I start a chat with Petra on Yahoo .. haven’t chatted for ages ..
12.45 .. As we reach the M4 the queue’s vanish and Karen puts her foot
down .. a litttle.
12.49 .. We leave the M25 ..
13.04 .. We are home ..
13.15 .. Lunch is served .. pate rolls, cocktail sausages, olives,
crisps and a dip washed down with apple juice .. a malt loaf serves as
cake.
14.30 .. ish .. Things start to go down hill as Claire suddenly starts
kicking Karen who was sitting with her ..
16.30 .. I make a cup of tea ..
17.15 .. I order the Pizza’s ..
18.00 .. ish .. Claire is getting very anti ish .. she’s asking to go
back to Alfreton .. this puts us in a difficult situation ..
Karen talks to the home .. they don’t have the staff to rescue us, so
we are going to have to drive althe way there and back to drop Claire
off .. << sighs >>.
19.03 .. We are on the road to Alfreton in Sparkle .. Karen is
insisting on driving ..
19.41 .. We Join the M1 ..
Claire starts to say “sleep at home tonight” .. too late now my dear ..
arrghhhh.
20.00 .. We are driving north west straight into the sun a lot of the
time .. shame it’s chosen this time for the clouds to break up after a
miserable afternoon weather at home ..
20.12 .. The sun goes behind a big wedge of cloud .. it actually looks
quite pretty at times .. oh for a camera ..
20.52 .. Karen stops at Leicester Forest East Services .. to give
Claire her routine evening meds ..
20.56 .. I drive from here ..
21.34 .. We arrive at Claire’s home ..
21.41 .. We head for home ..
22.25 .. ish .. We stop at Watford Gap for a comfort break and a
coffee. Comfort break sorted we try and get a coffee .. one chap on
duty, a crowd of about 20 - 25 people waiting to be served . .we give
up and drive on ..
22.58 .. We stop at Northampton services to get that coffee .. a couple
of cakes help to absorb the liquid ..
23.18 .. Back on the road ..

I watch Sky News rather than BBC news following the aftermath of the
Tottenham riots last night .. seems the Police have a lot to answer for
cause of the looting that was allowed to happen .. though it’s clear
from pictures this was clearly a criminal event on a grand scale ..
hoodies and masks or not, clearly most involved were Afro Caribbeans ..
